Over the past couple of years, printing technology has been leaping forward in terms of innovation, leaving people in awe at the capabilities and new things that can be done with – so called “printing”. Only now, printing has evolved into something much different, what we like call technological sculpting here at TonerGiant.co.uk.

Yes 3D printing is the future here today; I think we’ve all at least heard of it in recent months with it featuring in the latest big movies such as Iron Man (the suit) and the New Bond film (the Aston). While these are incredible creations by any standards, there is no stopping the 3D printing industry from making further advancements in what they can do with the tech.
Already this year we have seen more inventions such as the 3D pen which allows people to create 3d structures with instantly hardening plastic, much like a glue gun but far cooler! This product is now commercially available which I can imagine will be in a large number of schools very soon.

We have also seen some astonishing engineering with the microscopic 3D printing, able to produce three-dimensional objects smaller than a grain of sand (microscopic printing). I’m not sure what you could use this for; maybe make a house for ants? But the verdict… still cool!

Now we see the big brands like HP and Dell shining some attention on 3D printing and how it can be used in all types of products, Nike have recently released a football boot demonstrating the intricate detail and accuracy of 3D printers today with their Vapor Laset Talon. The new footy boot boasts ultra-lightweight and super strong skeleton running throughout for ultimate support.

We even heard on the news of guns being 3D printed, as if iron man suits weren’t scary enough! A man managed to print all the components to exact scale and build his own working gun from his 3D printer, scary stuff. But also very cool if you’re a man!

What’s great about 3D printing is that it’s been around for a few years already, but only now is the power and creativity been truly refined to create a whole series of amazing things one after the other. Now there are companies springing up all over the place offing huge ranges of 3D printed products, everything from movie figurines to I phone cases. We expect to see many more great advancements in the months, even weeks to come around 3D printing and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

It’s scary to think what 3D printing could be used for in the future but there are some really awesome things that can be done for good!
